BTPS publishes Responsible Investment and Stewardship Report
The BT Pension Scheme (BTPS) has published its first Responsible Investment and Stewardship Report.
The report sets out, as at 31 March 2021, the Scheme’s approach to responsible investment and how BTPS conducts stewardship directly and via its asset managers and agents. The report outlines how the Scheme evaluates itself and its future plans in this important area.
Morten Nilsson, CEO of BTPSM, says “Stewardship has always been central to our investment approach as we seek to act as a responsible and engaged owner of the companies and assets in which we invest.
“As the UK’s largest corporate pension scheme, we have a responsibility to act as a long-term custodian of the assets we invest in, to meet both the retirement incomes of our members as well as the needs of the environment and wider society."
"We are acutely aware that how and where we invest matters, and this is a responsibility we have always taken very seriously."
“Sound corporate governance and companies that are mindful of their impact on society and the environment in which they operate have a better chance of sustaining long-term economic success.”
